this is jonathan donahue from mercury rev who i went to see in leeds last month. i managed to sneak my big camera in for this and despite being really close to the front also managed to avoid the security guards for most of the gig. they only spotted me right at the end when they saw me take a picture, opened and closed their hands and shook their head. i interpreted this as 'don't use your flash' as opposed to the 'put that away' which i was told at the death cab for cutie gig. i considered explaining to him that it wasn't a flash but an auto-focus light he saw coming from my camera, but didn't think i should push my luck so switched to manual focus and kept snapping away.
