froggie - extra image
this cute little creature is a golden rocket frog and the only place on earth you can find it is in kaieteur national park in guyana. it spends its entire life cycle inside of tank bromeliads, which are plants that collect rain water. oh, and it's very, very deadly. according to my guidebook it produces a poison which is 160,000 times more potent than cocaine and if you touch it you will be dead within minutes. the only known creature which is immune to this poison is the frog itself, so the local indigenous peoples use it to create poison darts for hunting. not looking quite so cute now is it?
