the morning after my soggy walk back from my aborted trek i picked up some coffee and donuts for breakfast, a bento bunch for lunch, and took a bus from fenchihu to alishan. it only took about an hour, and the rain was still coming down heavily, so it was another soggy walk to my new hotel. i had only booked two nights in alishan, which is another national park area full of trails and nature. wanting to make the most of my limited time there i set off to explore in the afternoon, armed with a poncho and umbrella which managed to keep my camera dry if not so much my body. the rain never really stopped all afternoon, but when it got particularly heavy i would seek shelter, which i did here in a little hut in the middle of the larger sister pond. the rain was dripping off of the thatched roof, so while i waited for the rainfall to ease i turned my camera upside down and took this photo of the rain floating back up into the sky
